Senior Shopify Developer
We are looking for an experienced, technically rigorous Senior Shopify Developer to lead the architecture, engineering, and performance optimization of high-growth Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts. In this role, you will be responsible for building modular theme architectures, creating performant user interfaces, building custom app extensions, and executing advanced commerce logic using modern Shopify platform capabilities (including Metaobjects, Theme App Extensions, and Shopify Functions). You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, project managers, and backend engineers to translate complex commercial requirements into clean, scalable storefront implementations.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect, build, and maintain production-grade themes utilizing Shopify Online Store 2.0 (OS 2.0) principles, JSON templates, reusable sections, and nested block schemas.
  • Write native, modern ES6+ JavaScript and semantic HTML5/CSS3. Deprecate dependencies on legacy runtime libraries (e.g., jQuery) in favor of performant Native Web Components (customElements).
  • Model and implement complex product, collection, and store configurations using native Shopify Metafields and Metaobjects rendered across Liquid and Storefront APIs.
  • Design and configure dynamic discount, bundling, and cart modification logic leveraging Shopify Functions (Cart Transform API, Discount API) over deprecated Script Editor workflows.
  • Build and deploy checkout enhancements for Shopify Plus storefronts using Checkout UI Extensions and the Web Pixels API.
  • Proactively audit and resolve storefront bottlenecks to ensure optimal scores for Interaction to Next Paint (INP), Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).
  • Build and consume Shopify GraphQL APIs (Storefront and Admin APIs), Webhooks, and EventBridge integrations using Shopify CLI 3.x.
  • Maintain Git version control integrity, conduct technical code reviews, enforce strict Shopify Theme Check linting, and guide junior engineers.
Requirements:
  • 3–4+ years of specialized web development experience with at least 2.5+ years dedicated to building, launching, and maintaining complex Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced mastery of Shopify Liquid, vanilla ES6+ JavaScript, CSS3/SCSS, and HTML5.
  • Deep understanding of the Shopify OS 2.0 schema architecture, Sections Everywhere, app blocks, and line-item property pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience querying and mutating data via the Shopify Storefront GraphQL API and Admin GraphQL API.
  • Proficient with Shopify CLI 3.x, Git version control (branching, PRs, resolving merge conflicts), and deployment workflows.
Good to Have:
  • Experience building headless storefronts with Shopify Hydrogen and Remix hosted on Shopify Oxygen.
  • Experience developing custom embedded apps using Node.js/TypeScript and the Shopify App Remix template.
  • Experience writing Shopify Functions using WebAssembly (Rust or JavaScript).
  • Experience with subscription platforms (e.g., Recharge, native Shopify Subscriptions API).
