OpenAI, the company behind the viral chatbot ChatGPT, has released an iOS app. The Microsoft-backed AI company announced on Thursday that iPhone users can now leverage the AI-powered tool on the go. Even though the app’s access is limited to US users at the moment, the new ChatGPT app is free to use, ad-free, and even supports voice input to enhance the user experience further.
It’s important to note that previously Microsoft Bing’s app was the only way to access OpenAI’s language model on smartphones. With countless fake ChatGPT apps used to manipulate users in the recent past, OpenAI’s latest act will hopefully put an end to the rising scams.
OpenAI also hinted that Android users would soon get their own version of the extremely popular chatbot’s mobile application. The iOS version of the ChatGPT app, which works on both iPhones and iPads, will be rolled out in other countries in the coming weeks, OpenAI claimed.
Although there was no prior indication of the launch of a mobile application, the recent announcement makes sense, given the skyrocketing popularity of ChatGPT. The unveiling of the revolutionary AI chatbot in late year kicked off an AI rush as an arms race commenced among the tech giants to launch their conversational chatbots. Search Engine giant Google has only recently removed the waitlist and publicly revealed its AI-powered chatbot, Bard. As per the reports, Google is also developing a new AI-based search engine. Russia has unveiled its own ChatGPT alternative, while the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba also released an intelligent chatbot to stay relevant in this race.
